The Opportunity
Peter Brett Associates (PBA), now part of Stantec, are seeking an experienced acoustician to join the practice based in our Manchester offices.

Our Acoustics team offers both environmental and building acoustics capability across the UK, based from our conveniently-located offices in Manchester and Bristol city centres.

Based from the Manchester office, you’ll be working primarily within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex, challenging, and diverse building and infrastructure projects, whilst supporting the growth and development of the existing team’s capabilities as a trusted mentor for colleagues.

You’ll be a pro-active, ambitious, and a proven acoustic consultant, capable of demonstrating strong Project Management skills and a good working knowledge of British Standards and Regulations.  You’ll have an appetite to develop your own mentoring and leadership skills, whilst embracing new opportunities to expand your own skillset and experience.

This role will involve regular liaison with our other UK offices, as well as occasional travel to various development sites.


Key duties will include:
Undertaking and managing acoustic input to building and environmental development and engineering projects
Attending design team meetings and advising clients, architects and engineers (internal and external) on design issues relating to acoustics, noise and vibration
Project manage the acoustic input to projects
Supervise and co-ordinate the work of others 
Manage project teams to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines 
Produce detailed technical reports
About You
Degree qualified in acoustics, or alternately physics, mechanical engineering, or similar related discipline
Proven relevant acoustics experience working in a consultancy environment on diverse projects
Good working knowledge of all relevant codes of practice and industry standards 
Strong technical, commercial, mentoring and interpersonal skills.
Experience of noise modelling software
