Peter Brett Associates, now part of Stantec, are seeking a Principal Project Manager to join our busy and expanding multi-disciplinary practice at our UK Headquarters in Reading.

As Principal Project Manager you’ll be working alongside our Director of Project Management in managing a varied project portfolio through all stages, from feasibility, concept and design through to contractor procurement, site project management, and handover.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Building, developing and growing business relationships vital to the success of the project
  • Defining project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Developing full-scale project plans and associated communications documents
  • Estimating resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
  • Drafting and submitting budget proposals, and recommend subsequent changes where required
  • Setting and managing project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
  • Identifying and resolving issues and conflicts within the project team
  • Identifying and managing project dependencies and critical path
  • Planning, scheduling, and tracking project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
  • Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  • Proactively managing changes in project scope, identifying issues, and devising contingency plans
  • Define project success criteria and convey them to all parties throughout project life cycle
About You
The successful Principal Project Manager will display:
  • A strong background in Buildings or Structural Engineering
  • Experience of working "client side", to ensure successful delivery in line with the needs of clients
  • A demonstrable track record of delivering success for clients in a project management function
  • Capability to build and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Logical thinking with creative problem solving ability
  • Ideally have some experience of working within the Thames Valley and surrounding region
