PBA, now part of Stantec, are expanding our Utilities teams across the UK and currently we are looking for an Assistant Engineer to join our operations in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an ever-growing force in the UK market.  We are located right in the heart of the city and currently working on some of the most significant projects in the region. Birmingham has an extremely exciting future ahead with our work continuing around HS2, the 2022 Commonwealth Games, and the Paradise redevelopment as well as many exciting urban regeneration projects. The strong relationships we have with our clients in both the private and public sectors mean that we are well positioned to serve the community in the years to come.

As our Assistant Engineer, you will have the opportunity to become an integral part of our wider Utilities team and deliver on some of the most prestigious projects in the country. You’ll have a passion for utilities and will work support our more senior engineers as well as key technical stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:

  • As part of the Birmingham utility team to work closely with other multidisciplinary teams and utilities specialists around the UK to deliver utility focused solutions on a wide range of engineering projects.

  • Assist teams to address utility issues throughout the full life cycle of projects, from concept design to construction.

  • Coordinate and assist the central utilities, finance and planning teams to coordinate existing project and data controls, and assist in developing these systems.

  • Monitoring and tracking of projects, clients and stakeholders.

  • Ensure strong and auditable records management is maintained.


About You

  • Qualified with a relevant engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, etc.).

  • Technical and commercial knowledge of the UK utility sector.

  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with technical and commercial stakeholders on major infrastructure projects.

  • Excellent planning & organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and work independently as needed.

  • Ability and willingness to travel.
